Video's and Still Photography
For Small Businesses
|
People
just don't read like they used to. Look at newspapers, look
at books and magazines. Many have gone "computerized" and
added multimedia content. Over the years, I have done Film,
Video, and still photography for various firms and now
industrial video as well as web video. Changes in
technology, both hardware and software, have made it
possible for small firms to purchase great industrial
quality videos at value prices for their websites. Digital
cameras (DSLRs in particular) have made capturing images for
the web simple and much less time consuming (meaning
less expensive).
I believe every site should have video content for several
reasons. From the Boomers on, generations have grown up
watching TV. People are very comfortable watching videos.
Its "easier" than reading and video can have greater impact
if done correctly.
Still images are also very import, especially for products.
Catalogs are now electronic as well as printed. Online
newsletters need images. Do you have clients that love your
products? Feature them in your product literature. With
today's digital equipment the time needed for production has
been greatly reduced for both still and video photography.
You see the results at the time of the shoot and the final
product is finished very quickly.
The videos and still images can be used in all aspects of
your marketing. This builds the brand of your business based
on people and not just product and services. We have all see
"BAD" local TV ads. That is the best part about web videos -
they don't have the same time constraints and once produced
they cost you nothing to show to the public.
In addition still images of your staff can be used in many
ways. The employee of the month and holiday greeting cards
are two of the most effective ways to tell both your
customers and your employees how important they are to you.
Steps
in website video production
1.
The
Concept.

your products and services.
b.
A check
list will be developed for what will be in the video and how
it is to be presented.
c.
Time
and date will be chosen for the actual shoot and a
pre-production meeting will be held.
2.
The Shoot
a.
The day
before a phone conversation takes to place for a “fail safe”
review.
b.
The
shoot takes place. Depending on the length of the video this
may take as little as an hour or last several days. Video
allows for instant onsite review.
3.
Post Production
a.
Project
is edited and presented for final review
b.
Project
is delivered to client on DVD
ready for the Internet.
